A Lifetime of Writing for Others

Now Dan is Writing for Himself

During the course of my 40-plus years as an Entertainment Industry Publicist, I have likely written well over 10,000 press releases, feature story “pitches,” media alerts, client biographies and boilerplate text for films, TV shows, theatrical presentations, events, charities, people and companies. Then, when COVID-19 hit us all and my PR business crawled to a halt, I suddenly realized that the time had come for me to finally write about myself!

Each of my first three books, CARROTS, AFTER THEY CAME and FLIRTING WITH FAME, captures a storyline that reflects either true stories culled from my 65 years on the Earth – CARROTS, the history of my life with the women I’ve loved, lost, or chased after, and FLIRTING WITH FAME, the history of my life on both coasts with noted celebrities; or AFTER THEY CAME, a fictional science-fiction story inspired by my late father’s work on behalf of the U.S. Army.

During Summer 2024, my next two books are being publishing. My fourth, MY PARANORMAL LIFE: Supernatural Stories From A Hollywood Insider, from Bear Manor Media, recounts the various ghosts, poltergeists, UFOs, Angelic voices and other "other worldly" phenomena that have been interacting with me during the course of my entire life. And my fifth, which is appropriately enough entitled FIVE, from Genius Book Publishing, is a thriller that tells the tale of a serial killer in 1870's Europe who becomes a famous actor on the Hungarian stage, while secretly murdering women at night. After the killer's death, he becomes reincarnated 100 years later - his soul having entered the body of a young man in Boston who quickly becomes the biggest pop music star in the world.  Unbeknownst to him, however, is that in his past life, he was a serial killer - and this terrible proclivity had followed him into his latest incarnation in the 1970s as well!

“Good writing is remembering details that most people want to forget. Don’t forget things that were painful or embarrassing or silly. Turn them into a story that tells the truth.”
